CASE STUDY - A SCOOP OF PREDICTABILITY AND CONTROL

Client Situation - CSS Corp manages brand and campaign websites hosted on AWS for a consumer goods giant. One of the websites that it manages as part of this engagement is a leading ice cream brand. A unique and important event that the ice cream brand is synonymous with, since its inception, is the free-cone day – every year, on the day it was founded, the company gives ice creams for free. On this day, the company’s website attracts a lot of traffic. However, with a non-scalable infrastructure, the company addressed the spike in traffic by procuring servers to add more capacity. This was expensive and did not give them the required visibility into infrastructure capacity. As a result, the company faced performance bottlenecks during the campaign. CSS Corp was mandated to manage the spikes in traffic to their website alongside containing costs during this important annual event.
